MCADENVILLE, N.C. — Changes are in store this year for Christmastown USA due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The holiday light display in McAdenville is a 65-year old tradition. While the lights will still glow this year, they won't be quite as big and bright. McAdenville's town council decided to trim back this year's event in order to follow CDC guidelines.

Trees will be lit in downtown along Main Street, but areas where the public gathers, such as Christmas Town Lake, will not. Those who choose to walk through town are asked to stay on the sidewalks and keep apart.

There will not be a tree-lighting ceremony. The lights will come on December 1 and continue through December 26. More details about the changes can be found here.
