CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Many college towns are on edge as students return to some North Carolina schools.
The town of Davidson and Davidson College say they have shared information as the school prepared to reopen.
Since many students returned to campus last week, masks are required, many classes are held online, and some are held outside.
Students also had to get tested prior to the start of school, and now that classes have resumed, students are tested weekly.
The town and college say working together was essential.
“We felt very comfortable about their proactive plans and their plans going forward,” Davidson Town Manager Jamie Justice says.
“We kept them up on the steps we were taking and vice versa. And you might notice their language about face masks and distancing, there's a symmetry,” Davidson College spokesman Mark Johnson says.
It's still too early to see how effective the school's health measures will be.
Many schools, including UNC Chapel-Hill, had to switch to all-remote classes after experiencing outbreaks.
