FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Firefighters used to visit schools, churches, and day cares to teach children about fire safety. But COVID-19 restrictions won’t allow that right now. So, firefighters are using social media to do that training virtually.
The city website has a series educational videos that teach lessons about fire safety; things like what to do if a fire happens, how to call 911, and other topics.
The lesson plans and videos can be accessed by teachers. They are also age-appropriate, ranging in lessons for pre-schoolers to high school seniors.
The fire department is also offering to install working smoke alarms for free in the homes of residents in the city.
