WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – A North Carolina event planner is switching gears to open up a new drive-in movie theater to provide safe entertainment for families during the pandemic.
This new theater, called “The Drive,” is being built with three 4-foot shipping containers.
High Point event planner Chris King says the future of his industry is unknown, like many others, so he says he wanted to help the community and bring families together in a fun and safe atmosphere.
“What inspired us is entertaining people and putting people to work. We're going to be employing about 30 people here at The Drive every night,” King says.
The lot of land will fit up to 400 cars, with each car being 6 feet apart. The Drive will open on Tuesday, July 7 at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds.
