Sales have spiked across the country, as many have spent the last few months largely at home.

According to research from Nielson, sales have shot up as much as 55 percent nationwide.

In North Carolina, the ABC Board reports a 15 percent increase in sales this May over May 2019.

Wake County reported an 11 percent increase and Greensboro reported a 12 percent increase.

Surprisingly, Mecklenburg and New Hanover actually reported a decrease in sales.

Leading the state, and largely driving the 15 percent increase, was Belmont in Gaston County which jumped more than 94 percent.
