CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools says Ardrey Kell Principal David Switzer is suspended with pay while officials look into accusations of racism.
School officials did not confirm what the accusations are, but a Change.org page details alleged incidents of Switzer saying inappropriate things during faculty meetings.
The petition on that page is calling on Switzer to resign from his position.
However, there is another petition community members have signed to support him.
Earlier this month, a "spirit rock" dedicated to the Black Lives Matter Movement was defaced at Ardrey Kell High School. Students came out to repaint and erase the vandalism.
It is one of several racially-charged incidents that have occurred at the school in recent years.
Each of the dueling petitions have thousands of signatures.
