CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Nine-year-old CJ Baucom is an avid runner.

He's a member of a cross country team and a student at Bradford Preparatory School in Charlotte.

So, when school closed last month because of COVID-19, his homework assignment was to try and run 30 minutes a day. However, CJ chose to up the ante.

He decided to run about three miles per day, totaling to 100 miles in 30 days, and raise money for charity in the process.

The money he raises goes towards the Cooperative Christian Ministry, which helps give people in Cabarrus and Rowan counties access to food and housing.

CJ is asking people to donate 50 cents per mile between now and May 19.
