CHARLOTTE, N.C. – From downed powerlines to large trees on top of homes and roads, overnight/early morning storms left a mess in several areas around Charlotte.
One woman is in the hospital after strong winds blew a massive tree on top on a south Charlotte apartment building early Monday morning. Neighbors say they heard a loud noise when the tree fell into the woman’s bedroom. We’re told she was in her bed when it happened and began screaming for help.
The tree’s trunk is wider than a person and it appears the wind picked it up and caused it to fall on the second floor of the apartment.
Over in Stateville, crews are cleaning up damage after tree fell on what is believed to be an office building. There are no reported injuries.
