CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The commute between Uptown and southeast Charlotte could get little smoother.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation is holding an informal public meeting to go over proposed improvements to Independence Boulevard which include adding additional lanes and bridges in each direction. The meeting is set to be held Wednesday at Ovens Auditorium at 4 p.m. in the Starlight room.
Preliminary Map Designs for U.S. 74 Express Lanes:
- U.S. 74 at Sharon Amity Road to East of Conference Drive
- East of Conference Drive to East of Krefeld Drive
- U.S. 74 east of Krefeld Drive to east of Sam Newell Road
- U.S. 74 east of Sam Newell Road to east of I-485
- Independence Pointe/Matthews-Mint Hill Road to Campus Ridge Road
