CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Charlotte brewing community is coming together Friday to honor longtime restaurant owner Scott Brooks, who was killed last month at the iconic restaurant he ran with his twin brother.
- Several breweries around the Queen city are brewing a sentimental batch for Scott Brooks
- Police say the 61-year-old was killed in an apparent robbery on December 9
- The beer will be available on February 28 and proceeds
Brooks lost his life is just a few blocks from NoDa Brewing, where the event is being held to celebrate his life. They’re crafting a beer in honor of his motto called Too Blessed to be Stressed. It will be available on February 28 at both taprooms of the NoDa Brewing Company and at the following participating breweries: Birdsong Brewing Company, Bold Missy Brewery, Divine Barrel Brewing, Free Range Brewing, Heist Brewery, Pilot Brewing, Protagonist Resident Culture Brewing Company, Salud Beer Shop, and Wooden Robot Brewery.

Brewers from Plaza Midwood and NoDa are mixing up a sentimental batch. It’s set to be available at all the tap houses in the NoDa brewing area. They want it to be near and dear to the Brooks family, too.
Police say 61-year-old Brooks was killed in an apparent robbery on December 9 while trying to open Brooks’ Sandwich House. He and his twin brother had been running the popular eatery since 1973.
"You know, I’ve lived here for a better part of a decade and work here right from the studio from the brewery itself and a lot of the brewers and restaurant goers. We’re very tight to this area because just when something this tragic happens to them, it really hits home hard," Chad Henerson, co-owner of NoDa Brewing Company said.
The beer is a German-style helles lager and proceeds will go to a charity of the families’ choosing, which is Habitat for Humanity.
