HATTERAS, N.C. -- According to Hatteras Island Wildlife Rehabilitation, a puffin has been rescued in Buxton.
According to a Facebook post, it was brought in after being found in the woods, not on the beach.
The puffin had a wound on its head and looks as though it may have gotten hit by another bird.
Since last night, it has begun to eat.
Before release, it must be able to preen feathers and get them back in shape.
This little guy seems to have traveled quite a bit further south than usual. Click here to learn more about puffins.
