DENVER, N.C. — A Greenville, North Carolina couple, who were the subject of a Silver Alert, were found safe at a hotel in Lenoir.

  • Charles and Maxine Whitener went missing after leaving their son's Denver area home on Monday
  • They were found in a Comfort Inn & Suites in Lenoir
  • They were the subject of a Silver Alert

Officials say Charles Whitener, 81, and his wife Maxine, 80, were last seen leaving their son's home on Beth Haven Church Road on December 2. The couple was believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.

They were found around 7:30 a.m. on Thursday at a Comfort Inn & Suites. Officials say the couple were both in "good condition" and picked up by a family member.
