HOKE COUNTY, N.C. – Authorities in Hoke County are investigating a stabbing that left one man dead in the pre-dawn hours of Monday morning.
- Monalisa Stokes has been charged with stabbing Dawee Carter to death.
- It happened around 5:43 a.m. Monday at a home in Raeford.
- She was given a $1 million bond.
It happened around 5:43 a.m. at a home in the 2300 block of Haire Road.
According to investigators, an argument between Dawee Carter and Monalisa Stokes lead to Stokes picking up a kitchen knife and stabbing Carter in the back with it.
Carter was transported to First Health Hoke by EMS, but did not survive.
Stokes was taken to the Hoke County Detention Center and booked under a $1 million secured bond.
She is currently facing charges for Second-Degree Murder.
