Thunberg tweeted Wednesday that she will join the strike Friday at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center.
The protest Friday is being organized by the student-led N.C. Climate Strike movement.
Hundreds of people attended a rally the group hosted in September, the same day millions of people around the world skipped school and work to urge government action on climate change.
In August of last year, at just 15 years old, the environmental activist began spending her school days outside the Swedish parliament in an effort to demand change. Soon, other students participated in similar protests around the world.
If you would like to join Thunberg on her mission, you can head to 600 East Fourth St. at noon.
