CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- After the third day in a row with a high of 95 in Charlotte Wednesday, the heat holds on Thursday where we could potential break a record by the afternoon.

The forecasted high is 96 degrees with the current record at (95 set in 1925), so we'll have to wait and see! Regardless of if we break a record or not, conditions are going to be very hot and humid, with heat index values pushing into the triple digits for several across the Piedmont.

An isolated storm or two will be possible during the afternoon, where a severe storm is not out of the question east of I-77. A cold front will begin sinking into the state Friday, bringing more cloud-cover, a better chance for showers and storms, and cooler conditions for the weekend!

Highs should be back into the mid and upper 80s Friday with low to mid 80s on tap for Saturday and Sunday. Each day of th weekend will feature a chance for showers.
