NORTH CAROLINA -- All eyes are on Hurricane Dorian as we head through the Labor Day weekend.
Dorian continues to be a very dangerous, major hurricane. It will hit the northern Bahamas very hard by Labor Day, possibly as a Catagory 5 storm. After that, it is now forecast to stall then turn north before striking Florida. That means it will be heading our way.
It will be close to the Florida coast as moves north. Interaction with land is expected to cause some weakening, but it is still forecast to be a Category 2 with 100 mph winds as it nears the Carolina's by late Wednesday or Thursday.
It's possible the center of the storm may remain offshore, but coastal impacts could still be quite significant. If it comes ashore, those impacts will be much worse.
Central and western parts of the state may have little to no impacts. It's just too soon to know specifics. It will all depend on the final track of Dorian.
