NASH COUNTY, N.C. -- Nash-Rocky Mount Public School has announced the resignation of Dr. Shelton Jefferies.
- Dr. Jefferies has resigned as Nash-Rocky Mount superintendent.
- His last day will be Friday, August 2.
- No reason has been given for his leaving.
Jefferies' resignation will become effective on Friday, August 2.
The school board says it will begin the process of selecting interim leadership and its next superintendent immediately.
The board has temporarily designated the Chief of Staff, Brian Miller, to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the superintendent pending the appointment of an interim superintendent.
There is no word on why Jefferies has chosen to resign.
Nash-Rocky Mount Schools start back on August 12 for NRMS Early College and SITI High School students.
Traditional calendar students will resume August 26.
