CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The famous U.S. Airways Flight 1549 plane, known famously for "The Miracle on the Hudson", is getting ready to head to storage.

About 40 contractors and museum staff prepped the aircraft to be put away for the next few years Saturday.

The current location for Carolina's Aviation Museum will be repurposed to serve the region's growing private aviation needs.

This was the last time the public was able to see the plane until the museum's planned reopening in 2022.
