RALEIGH, N.C. -- Several animal shelters are almost at capacity, putting some animals in danger.
- The shelter has received thousands of animals in the last three months
- Some animals could be euthanized
- The shelter is also asking some people to keep animals they want to drop off for a few more days
The program director at Wake County says they've received thousands of animals in the last three months. The animals range from cats and dogs, to rats, chickens, and other animals. The director says the summer is typically their busiest month, and they're looking for people who will foster pets.
"It means animals are endangered of being euthanized" said Cindy Lynch, the Rescue Coordinator. "We have not had to euthanize for space in almost three years and we are very proud of that. We want to continue to do that. In order to do that, we need rescues to pull and fosters to come and take them in their home, even for just two weeks. It would help make space" said Lynch.
The shelter is also asking some people to keep animals they want to drop off for a few more days until they have the space.
