WASHINGTON, D.C. – Three Charlotte teens are in the nation’s capital advocating for diabetes research.
- The teens were selected for the 2019 JDRF Children's Congress
- It's a grassroots program for children with Type 1 diabetes
- Five teens in total are from North Carolina
The trio joined people from all over the country for the 2019 JDRF Children’s Congress. It’s the largest grassroots event for Type 1 diabetes. The goal of the event is to raise awareness for Type 1 diabetes research.
Catchie, Ella, Jack, Will, and Kabir were selected out of nearly 1,000 other kids to attend the three-day event.
“I feel we had some very touching testimonies in there. We had some touching stories shared. I feel like a lot of the issues we’ve come to highlight have been pushed into the limelight and a lot of important research has been presented as well. And I’m really positive based on the senators’ response to what we had to share,” 16-year-old Kabir Dewan said.
