WILMINGTON, NC --  The girl who lost her leg to a shark last month at Fort Macon is out of the hospital.

Havelock Fire and Rescue, where her father works as a firefighter and EMT, posted about the news on their Facebook page.

Paige Winter was in the ocean June 2 when a shark grabbed her leg and pulled her under.

Her dad jumped in to save his daughter by punching the shark several times. She was airlifted to Vidant Medical Center where she had her left leg amputated and several fingers.

While recovering, a local company donated a prosthetic leg and she received a special video message from Robert Downey Jr.
