CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- An itchy summer is ahead for the city of Charlotte, according to Orkin.
- The bug company recently released their 2019 rankings of top mosquito cities, with the Queen City ranking number nine.
- With an increase of international travel, UNCC Professor Daniel Janies says the insects can bring risks of other diseases from far and wide.
- He also recommends everyone to use bug spray during the summer months.
The bug company recently released their 2019 rankings of top mosquito cities, with the Queen City ranking number nine.
With an increase of international travel, UNCC Professor Daniel Janies says the insects can bring risks of other diseases from far and wide.
And while climate and landscape do play a role, Janies says all residents should do their part to reduce the problem.
"Don’t have pots or tires things like that that can collect water,” said Janies. “If you have, you know, something that is considered that big of a deal, like a watering can, fill it up just a little bit that you need everyday and don’t leave it standing there entirely full.”
Not only does Professor Janies say to empty water that collects, he also recommends everyone to use bug spray during the summer months.
