Summer officially arrives Friday, and mother nature will be giving us a very summer-like weather pattern leading into the start of the season!

A muggy, hot airmass back in place across the area will allow for highs to soar into the upper 80s and low 90s Monday with isolated afternoon storms possible. Storm coverage will be greatest in the mountains, where a "Marginal" level 1 risk for severe storms is in place.

Additional storms will move in Tuesday afternoon, where the "Marginal" risk will be extended to include the Piedmont. The main threat from any severe storms that develop will be damaging winds. Highs will remain in the upper 80s to low 90s.

The same weather pattern is set to continue through Thursday as a cold front moves through the region. Behind the front, some drier air should filter in just in time for the Summer Solstice, leading to a drier Friday and Saturday.
