CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- It's been one month since the deadly shooting at UNC-Charlotte and school administrators have announced future plans for the building where it all happened.

Chancellor Phillip Dubois says Kennedy Hall will not be used during the upcoming academic year. He says the commission will make recommendations on how to use the space in the future and he will wait for their recommendation before making a decision.

He released a statement saying:

We have shared a wide range of experiences and emotions on our campus over this past month: tragedy and grief, compassion and support, resiliency and recovery. As we pause together to reflect on the one-month anniversary of the day that forever touched our University community, it is important to note that each of us has our own timeline for how we respond to and recover from the events of April 30. We react differently, and we require different kinds of support.

Dubois also says the university will soon begin the process of creating new training for faculty and staff ahead of the upcoming school year.
