MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. – A detention officer employed by the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office has been terminated.
Sheriff Garry McFadden says Officer Phillip Devore had been arrested and is facing criminal charges with assault on a female.
The sheriff's office released a statement saying, “We are deeply disappointed in the conduct of one of our staff members. As a public safety organization, the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office requires all employees to demonstrate professional and ethical conduct both on and off-duty.”
Officials say Devore began working there in June 2017.
