CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The City of Charlotte is honoring Queen City native and R&B singer, Anthony Hamilton in a huge way.

Next week, Mayor Vi Lyles will declare May 8 as “Anthony Hamilton Day” in Charlotte

A special ceremony will be held at his alma mater, Harding University High School. On May 13, he’ll received they key to the city from Mayor Lyles and the city council at their meeting.

This isn’t the first local honor Hamilton has received recently. He was inducted into the North Carolina Hall of Fame and received the Order of the Hornet (Mecklenburg County’s highest honorary award).

The 17-time Grammy nominee's most recent album was released in 2016.
