Heidi Nisbett started her solo hike on the Appalachian Trail March 10, 2018 and reached the end on September 5, 2018.

Heidi was inspired by a family friend who had hiked 900 miles of the trail.

Heidi, planned, packed, and hit the trail making friends along the way.

She hiked through snow in the spring, the heat of summer, and had to sit out three weeks with a sprained ankle in Maine but she made it the entire way.

Heidi said it was both a physical and mental challenage.

She said “Going from like nine miles being hard to doing 15 miles to doing 20 miles and then also having the opportunity to be in my own head and, you know, just walk through the woods and not have to stress our about work or whatever else and you can really be alone with yourself.”

Heidi has the 2,600 mile long Pacific Crest Trail on her hiking bucket list.

Heidie leads a Trailblazers Hiking Club Saturday mornings at Blue Blaze Brewing in Charlotte.
