WATAUGA COUNTY, N.C. -- After more than 100 years, a Blowing Rock man is fixing up a church that his great, great grandfather donated the land for.

  • Mt. Bethel Reformed Church was only used once a year and started to be run down
  • With mold on the walls, chipped paint and much more, renovations were in store
  • Andrew Critcher started working tirelessly on the church and says there is much more to be done

Andrew Critcher started Kluttz Preservation and took over a church Jacob Kluttz started years ago.

Mt. Bethel Reformed Church was only used once a year and started to be run down.

With mold on the walls, chipped paint and much more, renovations were in store.

Critcher has been working tirelessly on the church and says there is much more to be done. He is completing this task in honor of his family.

"I'm leaving it exactly the way it was originally just restored. Painting it the way it was back then, every nut, bolt, and screw exactly the way it should be," said Critcher.

He says he can use some help with this project in the form of donations or advice.
