OUTER BANKS, N.C. -- A photo that is going viral on Facebook was not taken at the Outer Banks, according the picture's original photographer.

The photo in question posted by “Alex Lex OBX photographer" depicts a huge shark washed up on a beach, which the Facebook page claims is 20 feet long. The page credits the picture to Jack Cohen and says it was taken at Kitty Hawk.

However, this shark did not wash up on the Outer Banks beach and is not 20 feet long.

The picture of the actual-14 foot shark, originally posted on Boston.com in 2014, was taken at Whitecrest Beach in Wellfleet, Massachusetts.

Cohen posted on Facebook Monday morning to address the photo, saying, "Hi everyone, this guy is ripping off my original shark photo and trying to take it as his own. It is now going viral and any help you can lend in commenting on his photo that I am the original photographer and that this is copyright infringement would be really appreciated! Thank you!"

This isn't the only photo controversy for "Alex Lex OBX photographer."

In September 2017, we reported that a photo which showed an enormous wave behind Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head was also fake.

If you scroll down the "Alex Lex OBX photographer" Facebook page, you'll find several photos which seem to be fake.
