CHARLOTTE -- Crowds of people braved the freezing temperatures in uptown charlotte to ring in the New Year.
Despite the large number of people at Romare Beardon Park packed into a relatively small area, it seems there weren't any major incidents for the New Year's Eve celebration at the park.
There were fewer than the 6,000 people expected to watch the crown light up last night likely because of the cold.
However, CMPD was out in full force, cracking down on disorderly behavior and enforcing the curfew, making sure everyone could enjoy the night with friends and family.
So far, police have not released any information about any significant overnight incidents.
