CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is receiving praise after one of its officers helped to provide a man with a new pair of shoes.
According to a post rapidly circulating on Facebook, a man entered a local store to purchase a pair of shoes. But when his card would not work to complete the purchase, he had to leave the store with only the tattered pair he’d entered in.
Minutes later a CMPD officer entered the store and said he would like to purchase the shoes for the man. The officer, and an employee of the store, split the cost to provide the man with the new shoes.
While the post did not state the officer’s name, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has identified him as Officer Paul Siler.
The post has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from the community.
