Amber Baker is the State Representative for North Carolina's 72nd District. Politics and civic engagement were a large part of her upbringing, a fact that ultimately inspired her to run for public office. As a public school principal for over a decade, she considers herself an educator that moonlights as a politician.

Baker enjoys the constituent service side of her role the most, as it allows her to help members of her community navigate government systems. The hardest part of her job is the coalition-building necessary to move legislation forward.

The three words Baker associates most with her district are "historical, community, and beautiful." Her secret talent is making homemade greeting cards and invitations.
