RALEIGH, N.C. -- Since Election Day, North Carolina has seen daily COVID-19 cases topping 2,000.

On Friday, Nov. 6, the state reached a record high of 2,908 positive cases in a day. With positive cases trending upward, testing in the state has not let up. Wake County communications officials say they have steadily tested hundreds of people daily since the beginning of the pandemic.

Meredith Kleiber is one of those recently tested. She said she is satisfied with the way the pandemic has been handled on the federal level. As a health care worker, she says there are ways people could improve personally.

"Specifically the quarantine," Kleiber said. "I find that a lot of people are getting negative results after an exposure and [are] going out in public too quickly, as opposed to doing the 10-to-14 day quarantine."

Others, like Sammi Steele, say more could be done.

"I think it should be a little bit strict, so that everyone can stay as safe as possible," Steele said. "I just want everyone to be healthy."

President-elect Joe Biden said in his acceptance speech on Saturday he would be assembling a team to fight the pandemic.

"On Monday, I will name a group of leading scientists and experts as transition advisors to help take the Biden-Harris COVID plan and convert it into an action blueprint that will start on January the 20, 2021," Biden said.

Local officials still recommend wearing a mask, washing your hands, and distancing from others.
