1. Maria Chappelle-Nadal entering race for Rep. Cori Bush's seat in Congress

The field of candidates in the Democratic race for Missouri’s first congressional district seat is growing, with confirmation that Maria Chappelle-Nadal, a former State Representative and State Senator from University City will join St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Wesley Bell in challenging incumbent U.S. Rep. Cori Bush. In a social media video launching her campaign Tuesday, Chappelle-Nadal suggested Bell was a Republican “plant” in the race and that Bush is “someone who has created more controversy than progress since we sent her to Washington.”

2. Police identify 15-year-old who died in Monday's shooting in south St. Louis County

Police have identified one of victims who died in Monday's shooting in south St. Louis County that left two people dead and a third injured. Fifteen-year-old Colin Courtwright was pronounced dead at the scene after officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 5600 block of Chalet Hill Drive around 1:50 p.m. Police found three males suffering from gunshot wounds.

3. More than 200 expired license plate citations given out Friday in Jefferson County

A total of 286 expired license plate citations were handed out to drivers in Jefferson County Friday as part of a special enforcement day. Jefferson County Sheriff deputies and partnering law enforcement agencies patrolled for expired license plates, temporary tags and other moving vehicle violations Feb. 2. The enforcement came in the aftermath of COVID-19 when licensing offices had restricted hours and staffing, in addition to people losing their jobs caused by the pandemic.

4. Bolts missing from door plug on Alaska Airlines flight

Four bolts were missing in the door plug that broke off an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-9 MAX airplane on Jan. 5, according to a National Transportation Safety Board preliminary investigation released Tuesday. The bolts were intended to prevent the door plug from moving but had been removed by Boeing’s fuselage supplier to replace a different part of the plane.

6. Here's how St. Louis artists can apply to paint the town this summer

To showcase the St. Louis community, 28 murals by local artists will be displayed throughout the city this summer. The St. Louis Mural Project Grants is a one-time, $1.4 million grant opportunity, funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), for working artists to create a mural that represents one of the 14 city wards. Each ward will have two murals, according to the grant application guidelines.

Honda recalls 750,000 vehicles for defect that could unintentionally deploy airbags

The recall affects 15 Honda models and variants, including 2020-2022 model year Accords, Civics and Pilots, as well as 2020 and 2021 model year CR-Vs and Passports. It also affects four Acura models, including 2020 and 2022 model year MDXs, 2020-2022 RDXs and 2020-2021 TLXs.
