Investigators have identified the body of a man discovered in Edgecomb last week as William Nathaniel Robinson, 34, of Austinville, Virginia, according to the Maine Department of Public Safety.

A hunter had called 911 on Dec. 3 at around 9:30 a.m. after discovering the body near the Schmid Land Preserve on Old County Road, department spokesperson Shannon Moss stated.

The body was sent to the chief medical examiner’s office in Augusta, which determined the cause of death was a gunshot wound and the manner of death was ruled a homicide, Moss said.

Robinson had been recently staying at a home in Edgecomb, according to Moss.

“There is no known danger to the public at this time,” Moss stated. “The investigation continues and additional information will be released when it becomes available.”
