One man is charged with murder in connection with a killing in Norridgewock on Friday.

Police were called to a home on Walnut Drive at about 11:30 p.m. Friday, according to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss.

“Upon arrival, deputies discovered a deceased male and another male with severe head injuries inside the residence,” Moss stated.

The injured male was transported to Reddington Fairview Hospital in Skowhegan and later flown to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor where he is in critical condition.

The deceased was transported to the chief medical officer’s office in Augusta for an autopsy.

Police were told to be on the lookout for Kendall Purnell, 38, of Norridgewock, who was allegedly seen driving the homeowner’s vehicle, according to Moss.

At about 1 a.m. Saturday, police saw the vehicle at a gas station on Kennedy Memorial Drive in Waterville and identified Purnell as the driver, according to Moss.

Purnell was questioned at the Waterville Police Department before being arrested and charged with murder, Moss stated. He was taken to Somerset County Jail.

Police have not released the names of the victims.
