An upper level low pressure system is drifting over the islands, bringing wet weather and unstable conditions for the beginning of the week. Heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding across the state.

  • Heavy rain and flooding is possible Monday

  • Downpours and isolated thunderstorms are expected

  • A Flood Watch is in effect until 6 p.m. Monday

Expect periods of showers and storms, including heavy rainfall, throughout Monday. Deep moisture will lead to scattered to numerous showers today passing from east to west. There will be pockets of heavy rain and downpours with embedded rumbles of thunder.

Nuisance flooding is possible where areas of heavy rainfall set up. According to NWS Honolulu, flood prone roads and other low-lying areas may be closed because of elevated runoff and overflowing streams. This is especially true for rain that occurs over saturated ground.

A Flood Watch is in effect for the entire state through 6 p.m.
