Kauai County Department of Parks and Recreation is opening registration on May 15 at 8 a.m. for its Summer Fun Program.

The program runs from June 17 to July 26 on weekdays, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except for holidays. Children 5 to 11 years old are eligible and the program costs $75, which includes morning and afternoon snacks. Parents or guardians must provide lunch.

The program will take place in Kapaa, Lihue, Kalaheo, Hanapepe, Kekaha neighborhood centers, Anahola Clubhouse and Koloa Elementary School.

About 385 kids may enroll in the program before it will be full. However, these numbers may change depending on the number of summer hires this year. DPR handles enrollment on a first-come, first-served basis, according to a news release.

In order to register children in the Summer Fun Program, parents or guardians must first create an account. DPR officials recommend creating an account before registration opens. For those who already have accounts but are having trouble accessing them, DPR recommends contacting the neighborhood center in their community.
