HONOLULU — The Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation is looking to hire more than 500 people to help with its annual Summer Fun Program. 

In order to help with its recruitment efforts, DPR put together new videos with testimonials from current staff to encourage prospective employees to apply. 

The videos highlight the various positions available, including College Student Aide, Pool Lifeguard, Recreation Aide, and Therapeutic Aide, with pay rates ranging from $16 to $19.14 per hour.

In order to apply, adults currently enrolled in college can complete an online application for the Summer Student Aide after creating a log-in. Adults not enrolled in college can complete a fillable PDF application.  

The non-college applications should then be emailed to the park district where the applicant would like to work:

The 2024 Summer Fun Program will run weekdays 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. from Monday, June 10 through Friday, July 26. Keiki Registration will be online until Monday, May 13. 

Summer Fun is a city-operated, affordable day camp where children have fun and safe learning experiences. DPR hopes to include 10,000 children in the program each year.
