HONOLULU — Dear Santa…

Honolulu City and County crews installed a 21-foot Shaka Santa and Tutu Mele Tuesday on the Honolulu Hale fountain, according to a news release.

Throughout the week, City crews will continue to install other holiday decorations. A 55-foot Cook pine tree was already placed in front of Honolulu Hale in anticipation of Honolulu City lights, which starts on Dec. 2.

The iconic Shaka Santa sculpture has been making appearances at Honolulu Hale since 1989. In 1994, the Tutu Mele sculpture joined her husband at Honolulu Hale. She received an aloha-inspired makeover in 1998, when she was given her moniker and donned a muumuu.
