LIHUE, Hawaii — The Kauai County Transportation Agency announced in a news release it will accept applications from Kauai-based nonprofit organizations for its Kauai Bus Pass Outreach Program starting Nov. 1. The program’s funding period is from Dec. 1, 2023, through June 30, 2024.

The goal of the program is to provide free or discounted bus passes to individuals with transportation needs through eligible nonprofit organizations.

Applicants must be tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and submit their application online via the Kauai County Connect online system. Click on the Kauai Bus icon, then the Kauai Bus Pass Outreach Program Application icon.

The deadline to apply is Nov. 17.

A selection panel will review all applications. Scoring will be based on the applicant’s program information, including what service the applicant provides to the community and how many community members would benefit from the Kauai Bus Pass Outreach Program per the release.
