The sale of entire contents of the Dairy Queen locations includes the responsibility of the buyer to take apart and remove purchased assets with their own tools and workers.

According to a Dairy Queen representative, all those restaurants belonged to and were managed by one Texas-based franchisee who owns other Dairy Queens. “It was this franchise owner’s decision to participate in an online auction for 24 of the 25 locations.”

The representative noted that the closure of these locations is an isolated event.

Despite these closures, Texas maintains its lead as the state with the most DQ restaurants, about 560. With locations in more than 20 countries, the Dairy Queen system includes over 7,700 restaurants, with all Texas restaurants being franchised.
