AUSTIN, Texas — After much anticipation, Float Fest has been canceled, according to Ticketmaster.

Ticketmaster made the announcement on its website. The festival was supposed to be headlined by Lil Wayne, The Kid LAROI and Jessie Murph. Ticketmaster said refunds will be issued automatically. Float Fest hasn’t released an official statement on its website.

In March, organizers moved the floating part of the fest off-site, opting to host the festival at Germania Insurance Amphitheater in Circuit of The Americas instead.

Float Fest has had a complicated history. For its first four years, it was held at Cool River Ranch on the San Marcos River.

In 2018, Guadalupe County commissioners voted not to grant the festival a permit. The festival’s founder then sued the commissioners over their decision. Eventually, the two parties settled, and Float Fest 2018 was given the green light.

In 2019, the Guadalupe County Commissioners Court denied the music festival’s permits after an over three-hour discussion. The court cited road effects as their main reasoning for denying the permits, but they also mentioned noise, profanity and river effects as other concerns.

Float Fest 2019 subsequently canceled after organizers scrambled to find another location but were unsuccessful.

The event was canceled again in 2020 because of the COVID pandemic.

The last time Float Fest occurred was in 2022 in Gonzales, Texas, on the Guadalupe River.
