The Big House in Ann Arbor is bringing out the biggest stars.

In one of this season’s marquee matchups, No. 9 Michigan will host No. 4 Texas. The defending national champions will have their hands full. Texas opened the season by tearing Colorado State apart 52-0.

Michigan’s schedule over the past two years has been described as “soft.”

Michigan will have some star power in its corner, though. According to MLive.com, Baseball Hall of Famer and former Michigan resident Derek Jeter will be midfield for the coin toss at Michigan Stadium on Saturday.

Kickoff is set for 12:10 p.m. ET.

Jeter, who spent 20 years with the New York Yankees, was born in Pequannock Township, New Jersey, in 1974. When he was 4, his family moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan. It was there that he started playing little league baseball.

Jeter received a scholarship to play at Michigan, but the Yankees drafted him sixth overall in 1992. He won five World Series with New York and five Gold Gloves. He made the All-Star team 14 times.

Jeter is described as an avid Michigan fan.

Not to be outdone, it’s expected that actor, Austin, Texas, staple and Texas superfan Matthew McConaughey will be on hand at the Big House for the Longhorns.

A decade go, both schools announced their traditionally powerful programs would have a home-and-home series for the first time.

The first game is this week and the return trip to Austin is scheduled for Sept. 4, 2027. The Vince Young-led Longhorns beat the Wolverines on Jan. 1, 2005, in their only meeting, at the Rose Bowl.

In college football history, Michigan is No. 1 in all-time wins with 1,005 and Texas is No. 4 with 949 victories.
