TEXAS — Fresh off his record-setting concert in College Station, Texas, it’s been announced that country music legend and Lone Star State native George Strait will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame Class of 2025 was announced this week, and besides Strait includes musicians Keith Urban, Prince and Busta Rhymes.

It also includes filmmaker John Carpenter and actors Robert Englund, Emilio Estevez, Jane Fonda, Colin Farrell and Jessica Chastain.

In the category of Sports Entertainment, David Beckham and Orel Hershiser will receive stars.

Dates have not yet been selected for star ceremonies. Recipients have two years to schedule them before they expire.

Strait was born in Poteet, Texas, in 1952. Given the nickname “King of Country Music,” he holds the record for the most No. 1 songs on all charts by any artist, in any genre of music.

His first hit was his first single, “Unwound,” released in 1981. He won his first Grammy for the 2008 album “Troubadour.”

Strait was named Artist of the Decade by the Academy of Country Music in the 2000s. He was named CMA Entertainer of the Year in 1989, 1990 and 2014.

Strait has sold more than 120 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time. He was elected into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2006.
