AUSTIN, Texas — The family of Anna Moriah “Mo” Wilson has won a $15 million wrongful death settlement against Kaitlin Armstrong.

The Wilsons, who live in Vermont, filed a wrongful death civil lawsuit against Armstrong in May. According to court documents, the judge granted $5 million each to Karen and Eric Wilson for “mental anguish, including emotional pain, torment and suffering from the death of [their] daughter.” They were also awarded $2.5 million each for exemplary damages.

Armstrong was convicted of murdering Wilson in November 2023. Prosecutors said Armstrong gunned down the 25-year-old Wilson in a jealous rage. Wilson had briefly dated Armstrong’s boyfriend several months earlier. Wilson had gone swimming and to a meal with him the day she was killed.

Armstrong briefly met with police before selling her vehicle and fled to Costa Rica. Investigators said she spent more than $6,000 on a nose job there and changed her hairstyle and hair color to evade authorities before she was arrested as a beachside hostel.

Armstrong is currently spending 90 years in prison for the murder.
