AUSTIN, Texas — About a year after Kaitlin Armstrong was found guilty for killing pro-cyclist Moriah Wilson, Wilson’s parents are suing Armstrong for wrongful death.

On May 6, Karen and Eric Wilson, residents of Vermont, initiated the lawsuit in Travis County court.

The family is seeking $1 million, including damages of any kind, penalties, costs, expenses, pre-judgment, and post-judgment.

According to the trial in Nov. 2022, Armstrong pursued Wilson because of anger over her friendship with her boyfriend, ultimately shooting her in an East Austin apartment.

After killing Wilson, Armstrong fled to Costa Rica but was arrested in Provincia de Puntarena, Costa Rica, on June 29, 2022.

When she was captured by authorities, Armstrong changed her appearance by altering her nose and coloring and cutting her hair.

The murder trial began on Nov. 1, 2023 and lasted for more than two weeks.

On Nov. 16, the jury took two hours deliberating before delivering a guilty verdict.

According to the wrongful death lawsuit, Armstrong is accused of showing gross negligence and assaulting Wilson.
