BROWNSVILLE, Texas – It’s not officially a city but SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is encouraging people to move to Starbase, the site of the company’s launch and landing area.

Located in southeastern Texas, near Boca Chica Village, Starbase, also referred to as Boca Chica Launch Site, serves as SpaceX’s spaceport and rocket production facility.

Musk has invested a great deal in the area, sometimes to the dismay of residents, and foresees substantial growth.

On Tuesday the billionaire tweeted, “Please consider moving to Starbase or greater Brownsville/South Padre area in Texas & encourage friends to do so! SpaceX’s hiring needs for engineers, technicians, builders & essential support personnel of all kinds are growing rapidly.”

Following that, the entrepreneur wrote, “Starbase will grow by several thousand people over the next year or two.”

Musk also said he’s also donating millions to the local school district and nearby city of Brownsville.

SpaceX chalked up another failed landing Tuesday for its futuristic, bullet-shaped Starship, as the prototype Mars rocket broke apart right before touchdown.

A camera on the rocket froze not quite six minutes into the test flight, and dense fog in South Texas obscured views of the ruptured rocket. Other video showed debris raining down and explosions could be heard.

"At least the crater is in the right place!" Musk tweeted.
