TEXAS – Texas has set astonishing records during the early voting period in October.
On Friday, the Lone Star State surpassed 100% of its total 2016 turnout. More than 9 million ballots have been cast in a state with historically low voter turnout, and it’s far from over.
Texans have one more day to vote early. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, and polls will be open from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. that day.
In Harris County, which is Texas’ most populous county and includes Houston and the surrounding area, eight early voting locations were made available for 24 consecutive hours.
Hours on Friday vary by location. In Travis County, which includes Austin, most early voting locations will remain open until 7 p.m. Friday, but there are five designated “mega-centers” at which you can vote until 9 p.m.
Travis County Clerk Dana DeBeauvoir additionally asked those with mail-in ballots to hand deliver them 5501 Airport Blvd.
If you choose to vote on Election Day, remember that you must vote at your designated polling location. If you're submitting an absentee ballot, it must be postmarked by 7 p.m. on November 3 and received no later than 5 p.m. on November 4.
