SAN ANTONIO -- Friends and family of King Jay Davila came together Friday night to celebrate what would've been the late baby's first birthday.

King was found dead in January after investigators discovered his lifeless body inside a backpack that had been buried in a field by his father, Christopher Davila. The father has since been charged on numerous counts and remains behind bars on a $1.25 million bond despite requesting a bail reduction earlier this week.

During the birthday vigil on Castle Lane, Pamela Allen told the crowd about how the boy would've turned one on Thursday. She organized the gathering for loved ones to grieve.
"I see that [the baby's family] grief is very burdensome and I know that they will get through it, but we do have a lot of people supporting them and we want to stand with them as they remember their baby," she said.
Following the vigil, a candle was blown out and cake was served.
